Dear MS or HS Debate Teacher/Coach:

You and your team are invited to the La Reina School Invitational Debate Tournament In in Thousand Oaks, CA on Saturday, December 7, 2019.  The tourney is open to all middle and high school students and is designed to help new and continuing programs compete in a supportive and educational environment.  

We will be offering four rounds in both Middle School and High School Parliamentary, Lincoln-Douglas, Parliamentary and Public Forum debate formats in two divisions: open and novice plus Middle School divisions.    Middle school debaters may enter the Open and Novice divisions if they so choose. Parliamentary debate is two person, 7-7-7-7-4-4 with 20 minutes of open prep on one topic.

Local Ventura County schools interested in attending but without an established program are welcome to contact La Reina HS for educational support and student coaching.

We’ll be using the November/December topics in Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum.  

Novice debaters are those in their first year of competition without having advanced to elimination rounds at a prior tournament.  

The schedule is based on having enough judges to single flight. We reserve the right to double flight is we are short judges and eliminating elim rounds.  That means the ratio for debate is 1 Judge covers 2 LD or 2 PoFo team or 2 Parli teams.  

We ask all schools to cover at least 50% of their judging commitment.   Varsity high school debaters are allowed to judge Middle School rounds and novice High School rounds.

Entry fees are $25 per entry with a $25 school fees.  Uncovered entries are $50 per entry.  Make checks payable to "LRHS Debate".
